Pass It On is a space for exploring creativity through collaboration and the sharing of ideas. The idea is to experiment and play with different ways of creating media content. On the left of the site is a series of media chain stories that we have begun. Please feel free to add your own photos, audio and videos in response to our work. You can do so by clicking the 'easy edit' option in the corner of most pages. It doesn't matter if they don't seem to make sense, trying to draw connections between the seemingly random installments is half the fun.

We made a short film called 'Windscreen' based on these 'chain story' principles.




Here is the model:

1) If there are four contributors (as there were in Windscreen), a story will be passed from one person to the next, each person adding a few hundred words. These make up the four scenes of the script.

2) The story is then sent around again, this time each person adjusts someone else's scene (adding extra dialogue where necessary) to transform it into a script.

3) Each person then takes on a scene that they have not wriiten, or scripted . Aside from direction on the shoot day, they are also responsible for the pre-production of that particular scene (including storyboarding and shot design.)

4) Each collaborator is then given the footage for a scene that they neither wrote, scripted nor directed. They then edit this footage independently of the other group members, with the four scenes being consolidated only in the final stages of production.
